Located on the picturesque South Shore of America's largest alpine lake, South Lake Tahoe provides many opportunities for work, play, and outdoor living. South Lake Tahoe straddles the Nevada/California state line, and The City of South Lake Tahoe in California is the only incorporated community in the Tahoe basin. The South Shore offers casinos, nightlife, dining, and a variety of recreational opportunities. The area offers a variety of properties ranging from entry-level classic Tahoe cabins to lakeview and lakefront homes and condos.

Currently, redevelopment is in full swing in the South Shore, already evident in the rehabilitation of the Lake's South Shore beaches, and the construction of the new village at the base of the Heavenly Gondola. The City of South Lake Tahoe has joined forces with organizations such as the Marriott Corporation and Heavenly's Vail Resorts, and is moving on a path towards planned growth and ecological balance. The City is in the process of redeveloping and revitalizing the state line area with a new conference center. Additionally, the City of South Lake Tahoe has designated the Hwy 50 /89 Y area as a redevelopment district.
